MVHR Systems

These innovative systems provide constant fresh air whilst recovering heat that would otherwise be lost, making them a key requirement for new builds.

What is an MVHR System?

An MVHR system continuously extracts stale air from wet rooms like kitchens and bathrooms whilst simultaneously supplying fresh, filtered air to living spaces and bedrooms. The clever part is the heat recovery process – as the two airstreams pass through a heat exchanger, warmth from the extracted air is transferred to the incoming fresh air, recovering up to 95% of the heat that would otherwise be lost.

This means you get fresh air throughout your home without the heat loss associated with opening windows, making MVHR systems both energy-efficient and essential for maintaining healthy indoor air quality in airtight modern buildings.

Why New Builds Need MVHR

Modern building regulations require new homes to be highly airtight to meet energy efficiency standards. Whilst this is excellent for reducing heat loss, it also means natural ventilation through gaps and drafts no longer occurs. Without proper mechanical ventilation, condensation, mould, and poor air quality can quickly become problems.

MVHR systems solve this by providing controlled ventilation that meets Building Regulations whilst maintaining energy efficiency. If you're building a new property or major extension, an MVHR system is likely to be a requirement, and we have the specialist qualifications to install and maintain these systems correctly.

MVHR Servicing

Regular servicing is essential to keep your MVHR system running efficiently and maintaining good air quality in your home. Our comprehensive MVHR service costs £140 + VAT and includes complete sanitation of the unit, thorough inspection of all components, cleaning of heat exchangers, and system performance checks.

Filter replacement is charged separately, as these need replacing regularly depending on your environment and usage. We can advise on the right maintenance schedule for your specific system and property.

For property managers and developers with multiple units in the same block or development, we offer multi-unit discounts for group bookings, making it more cost-effective to maintain MVHR systems across entire buildings.

MVHR Repairs

When your MVHR system develops a fault, it can affect air quality throughout your home. Common issues include unusual noises, reduced airflow, filter problems, and control faults. We have the specialist knowledge to diagnose and repair MVHR systems quickly and effectively.

Our standard callout during normal hours is £90 + VAT (including the first hour of labour), with additional labour charged at £90 + VAT per hour. Emergency callouts outside normal working hours are available at £140 + VAT.

MVHR Installation

Installing an MVHR system requires careful planning, precise ductwork installation, and proper commissioning to ensure optimal performance. We handle complete installations for new builds, extensions, and retrofit projects, working to Building Regulations and manufacturer specifications.

Our ventilation qualifications and years of experience mean we can design and install systems that deliver the right air quality and heat recovery performance for your specific property.
